Why I’m Still All In on Environmental Health
We're early, like Game 2 of a 7-game Stanley Cup playoff series early!
Hey friends,
Since the Exposome Moonshot Forum back in May, I’ve been thinking a lot about where we are in the journey of connecting our environment to our health. And honestly? We’re early. Like Game 2 of a 7-game Stanley Cup playoff series early.
I started DailyBreath because I felt I knew where the puck was going when it came to environmental health. We’ve got some amazing tools and technologies only now starting to emerge — things that can help us measure, identify, and track our daily environmental exposures like the wildfire smoke that is increasingly impacting so many, so frequently. But most of them aren’t yet woven into everyday health. The connection between what’s in the air around us and how it affects our bodies — especially when it comes to acute symptoms as well as health deterioration - still isn’t front and center. Every day, we’re having conversations about how to improve DailyBreath with features and functionality integrating these tools and technologies.
Why keep pushing this work when the market isn’t quite there? Because it matters. DailyBreath is a labor of love. If it helps even one person realize that their asthma flare-up wasn’t random — that it was triggered by something they can actually avoid or prepare for — then it’s worth it.
This isn’t just about understanding exposure risk in some vague, general way. It’s about understanding your own risk. It’s about having information that’s personal, actionable, and empowering. That’s the kind of insight that actually changes behavior — and changes lives.
